Daughters of God is an exploration of female preaching in the Christian tradition—biblically valid or a heresy The Southern Baptist Convention banned the ordained female pastorate since 1984 according to the teachings of St. Paul. Many congregations have been “disfellowshipped” by their Baptist associations. Nonetheless, Southern Baptist churches have ordained thousands of women, many in the pastorate, in defiance of the Convention and in full exercise of their theological independence. In the course of gathering the historical basis for this book, Professor Earls provides a survey of Church and ecclesiastic history. More importantly, he interviewed and sought essay submissions from Southern Baptist female pastors.
